Triple H Land Company sits on 80 acres of woodlands in the heart of the Atchafalaya Basin, on the banks of the old Bayou Courtableau. It's 7.5 miles south of Krotz Springs, LA, at the end of a private road.
Two hundred years ago Bayou Courtableau was one of the major transportation routes through the Atchafalaya wilderness into the Opelousas Territory. Though the steamboats are long gone, much of the wild beauty remains. This southernmost segment of the bayou is now closed in on both ends, forming a quiet lake with only private access and surrounded by forest. Fisherman can enjoy catching Bass, Sac-au-lait, Bream, and Catfish while listening to breezes blowing through the cypress trees and bullfrogs croaking. A couple of hundred yards away is public access to another 3 mile segment of old Courtableau which is not widely known, but is especially popular among avid Bass, Sac-au-lait, and Bream fishermen in the area, Just to the south of Triple H Land Company is Indian Bayou National Wildlife Refuge with 28,000 acres of public access for hunting, fishing, boating, and hiking. And right across the river is the Sherburne Wildlife Management Area and the Atchafalaya National Wildlife Refuge encompassing over 43,000 acres of public land.
Triple H Land Company was incorporated 30 years ago and is owned and managed by members of the Halphen family, descendants of the some of the original settlers in the region. They've made available a limited number of affordable yearly campsite leases for individuals and families who would like to enjoy the rich beauty of the Atchafalaya outdoors and its unique culture. All leases include access to utilities, use of private boat launch, and fishing in a 1 1/4 mile segment of the bayou with no public access. Located less than one hour from Baton Rouge and Lafayette, Triple H Land Company campsites offer a unique location from which to enjoy the vast outdoor opportunities across the Atchafalaya Basin, or to spend some quiet time on the water just outside your door, or to just stay at the camp passing good times with family and friends.
Beautiful view of Halphen Bay all year long.
